Working in the recreation industry for over 30 years, Tammy Goodwin is bringing a fresh perspective and vast experience to the Dartmouth Sportsplex as our new Director of Programs.
Tammy comes to the Sportsplex from Edmonton, Alberta, after decades working in recreation as a Branch Manager, Fitness Instructor, Community Partnership Manager, and more. Holding a Bachelor in Physical Education and a Certificate in Project, Tammy has also completed countless certificates in personal training and training education and is always evolving her skillset to offer her community more exciting fitness options.
With past volunteer positions including the Board Chair for the Edmonton Sport Council and the Director of the Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association, Tammy has a strong interest in how recreation impacts community health and creating recreation opportunities that are more accessible for everyone.
As the Director of Programs, Tammy spends her days getting to know Sportsplex users and what they need to be successful and achieve their goals. A true team player and experienced leader, Tammy enjoys problem solving and supporting her staff through challenging situations. Seeing her staff thrive in their positions and better serve their community is one of her favourite parts of her job.
When she's not at the Sportsplex, Tammy is enjoying her new home in Fall River, Nova Scotia. Tammy is an outdoors enthusiast and loves motor biking, kayaking, camping, walking her two small dogs, and listening to her favourite RnB and hip hop tunes with her wife, Jacqueline.
Making the most out of life is important to Tammy, with her personal motto being, “you only live once; go for it now”. Dressing up for Halloween is a blast for Tammy—she’s been known to wear more than five costumes by the end of the day! When you catch Tammy around the facility, be sure to stop and chat. She’s already met so many of our fantastic community members and is eager to meet even more and tour them around the facility.
