He’s a small-town guy with an appetite for adventure and lifelong learning. As the Assistant Chief Engineer at the Dartmouth Sportsplex, Jamie Fleet keeps our rink, pool, and general operations running smoothly so everyone can enjoy what the facility has to offer.

A Nova Scotia Community College graduate, Jamie has his Refrigeration, 2nd class certificate and is also a certified pool operator. Jamie has worked in some of Halifax’s most exciting and busy facilities, including the World Trade Centre and the Scotiabank Centre.

A day-in-the-life of Jamie sees him moving around the facility, maintaining equipment and systems to ensure they’re safe, up-to-date, and working to their full potential. Making and maintaining the arena ice is a huge part of Jamie’s job, and you can often see him hosing the rink from the Zamboni area when you’re sitting in the stands. Jamie has attended many workshops, training sessions, and conferences on behalf of the Dartmouth Sportsplex, learning more about modern recreation facilities and the most effective and innovative ways to keep things running. Staying current with the latest equipment and training is important to Jamie, as he’s committed to not only keeping the facility running smoothly, but constantly improving the way we do things.

Hailing from Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, Jamie is a proud Nova Scotian who loves to explore new places, whether they be overseas or right here in our home province. He’s been to a few European countries, including Iceland, but also loves to make his way around Dartmouth. As a coffee lover, Jamie is always visiting new coffee shops around the city in search of his favourite. He also loves going to any lakes in the Dartmouth area (and we have more than a few)!

Jamie loves working out, and the Sportsplex’s weight and cardio room upgrades are some of his favourite parts of the new facility. Some of Jamie’s most fond memories of the Sportsplex involve events and seeing them come to life from start to finish. Which event stands out as his favourite? “There’s too many to choose from! We’ve had some amazing events here over the years and they get better each time.” We love his positive attitude and are grateful to have Jamie on our team.
