Payroll and Accounting Associate

The Dartmouth Sportsplex, built in 1982, is a family-focused health, fitness, and recreation complex that serves Dartmouth’s communities and all regions of the Halifax Regional Municipality. The former Dartmouth Sportsplex offered an arena, running track, racquetball and squash courts, full fitness centre, two swimming pools, and various meeting spaces. In November 2018, the facility will complete a major $28 million revitalization project, re-opening with new features such as a double gymnasium, new fitness centres and equipment, new welcoming community spaces, and so much more. In addition to the physical renovations, the facility is also launching a large-scale community outreach and accessibility program to reduce barriers and ensure that everyone in our community can play at the Sportsplex.

Currently, the Dartmouth Sportsplex is seeking a highly organized, people-focused Payroll and Accounting Associate to help us transform our community.  We need someone who loves numbers, is a stickler for details, likes to be busy, and thrives helping people.  In this role, you will help ensure the accuracy of our payroll, that our bills are paid on time, and that our records and files are well maintained.  

We’re looking for an individual who:

  • Has experience with accounting and/or payroll administration tasks;
  • Is detailed focused;
  • Has strong computer skills and can use programs such as excel, word, and database software; 
  • Enjoy working on a team, can manage many priorities at once, and thrive on helping others achieve their goals;
  • Can work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Experience in the health, fitness, or recreation fields is not required or expected. This is a full-time, permanent position with the Dartmouth Sportsplex.  We offer a supportive work environment including up to 5 weeks combined vacation and paid time off, a comprehensive benefits program, and a matching pension plan.
